Effective Structuring of Distribution Channels

Effective structuring by an insurer of its distribution channels may lead to reduced costs and enhanced market shares. The choice by an insurance undertaking of effective channels for the distribution of its products requires a full appreciation of:

  • The legislative frameworks governing the production, marketing and sale of insurance products
  • The regulatory obligations imposed at the various levels in the distribution chain on the insurance undertaking, its distributors, intermediaries, agents and brokers; and
  • Relevant EU and National consumer protection laws

Contractual relationships between insurers and its distributors must be established in compliance with EU and Irish competition and distribution laws and give effect to the commercial objectives underpinning those relationships.

Dillon Eustace enjoys recognised experience in assisting its domestic and international insurers in the establishment and operation of legally compliant and cost-effective national and cross-border distribution channels for their insurance products.
